The Blue Bar – Wilton Place
Located within the Berkeley Hotel, the Blue Bar is an informal and intimate venue which can accommodate up to 50 guests. The striking colour of the room, which designer David Collins has termed ‘Lutyens Blue’ is its most outstanding feature. To add to the individuality and opulence of the Blue Bar is the white onyx bar and black crocodile print leather floor. Here you can choose from over 50 different whiskies as well as a wide range of champagnes and original and classic cocktails. For the connoisseur, a specially created menu, the ‘Grape and Smoke’ has been designed to pair cigars with carefully chosen wines. A frequent haunt of celebrities, the Blue Bar is open throughout the evening where guests can enjoy bar snacks such as nori-wrapped vegetables marinated in mirin & sweet soy sauce or queen scallops with wasabi & lime vinaigrette.
Mju Bar – 17-25 Sloane Street
Tucked away in the Millenium Hotel, the Mju Bar offers a comfortable, relaxing and peaceful haven where all day dining is available including afternoon tea. Chic and stylish, the bar is frequented by a number of celebrities and rising stars whose involvement is reflected in the cocktails especially created for each of them. Cosmopolitan, Manhattan and Whiskey Sour are three cocktails highly recommended at the Mju, however, Sunny Mary, a vitamin-packed combo of vodka, carrot and lemon juice, Tabasco, daikon and garlic and Meditation Martini, made up of apple juice, cancer fighting green tea, calcium charged basil and Zubrowka Vodka are just two of an exciting new range of anti-oxidant cocktails that have been created as a healthy alternative for guests. The Mju Bar is open from 11am until late every day.
The Library Bar – 1 Lanesborough Place
Often frequented by celebrities, this smart and luxurious bar nestles inside the Lanesborough Hotel. Its majestic surroundings of plush upholstery, book-lined shelves and coffee tables with polished brass service bells conjures up an era of genteel service and distinguished drinking. Antiquated aristocracy is very much in evidence at The Library with glass cabinets of vintage cognac on display, one of which dates back to 1786. Vintage Cognacs may be the tipple of choice here, however, the bar staff will rise to the challenge of any cocktail. The Lanesborough Martini for instance is made up of Wokka sake, strawberry puree and fresh mint.
Mandarin Bar 66 Knightsbridge
Located within the Mandarin Oriental hotel, the Mandarin is a bar of note and named as UK’s best by Timeout magazine. The diverse mix of leather armchairs, mohair, marble, glass, mirrors and wood are tastefully blended. Beige silk lines the walls and showcases display handcrafted cocktail glasses and ornamental bar-ware. The bar itself is actually a catwalk and purported to be the bar to be seen in. An air-conditioned area is dedicated to cigar smokers with as many as forty five different types to choose from. Open to the general public and guests of the hotel alike, live music is played nightly with a 2am license.
The Townhouse – 31 Beauchamp Place
This sophisticated and intimate bar, offering the ultimate in urbane and sophisticated relaxation, is embraced within an elegant, ivy-clad Georgian townhouse. Dark wood floors and off-whites dominate the ground floor and additional first floor bars with huge plasma screens adorning the walls. For those who choose to eat here, a low cocktail table can be elevated electronically, transforming it immediately into a dining table. The Townhouse has an immense cocktail menu with over 80 to choose from all of which are exclusively prepared with the finest ingredients and served by some of the top barmen in London.
